Ian Arber wrote the theme for the 2019 BBC Proms, and was the first composer to be officially commissioned to compose the theme of this prestigious annual show and celebration of classical music.
Reflecting on this project, Ian said:
“It was a real honour to have been asked to write the theme for The BBC Proms this year. From being a runner on the event a decade ago and hearing the theme echo around the Royal Albert Hall, to being a part of the show this year in this way is pretty surreal.”
The theme was recorded with the BBC Concert Orchestra at Maida Vale Studios and the First Night of the Proms aired on Friday 19th July at 19:30 on BBC2. The rest of the season, which airs until the end of the summer, will be available on BBC2, BBC4 and BBC Radio 3.
